Communion service

A quieter devotional service, following the 1662 liturgy or a service from the New Zealand prayer book

Sunday 10:00am

Coffee Connection;
Fellowship over tea or coffee and a bite to eat in St Anne's hall

We then move into the Church starting worship at 10:40 am. This is a family oriented service using the New Zealand prayer book service.

On the third Sunday of the month we have an 'all age'  service.

Wednesday 10:00am

Our midweek service uses the 1662 communion liturgy and is followed by morning tea

Communion

Whether it is called 'Communion'. 'the Eucharist' or 'the Lord's Supper', the sharing of bread and wine, in remembrance of Jesus Christ's death for us, is a central aspect of the communion service.

All the baptised are welcome to come and share communion.

Prayer

Prayer is an important part of all our lives and it plays a vital role in the community of St Mary's.

The prayer chain is a group of people who pray privately for those in any kind of need. Please contact Bev Aitkin (453 4584).

Education

Study and discipleship groups run both weekly, throughout the year and for specific periods, such as during Lent, the period before Easter. Confirmation classes can be arranged if required.

Baptisms

Baptism is an important step in the journey of following Christ. People are either baptised as adults or as infants at the request of their parents.

Weddings

St Mary's church is available for weddings. Please contact Rev John Sherlock to discuss your wishes and plans. Marriage preparation is provided.

Funerals

St Mary's is available for funeral services on request - these are organised by the funeral directors but are held in the church

Dunedin Hills Ministry Team

The St Mary's parish covers the suburbs of Mornington, Belleknowes, Maryhill and Clyde Hill.

However, people from wider Dunedin are part of our church family.

St Mary's is part of the Dunedin Hills Ministry partnership between St Mary's and St John's Roslyn. The two churches are independent parishes but are working co-operatively to help facilitate ministry and mission across the Dunedin hills area.

Sunday School

Jesus and the children

Sunday School meets during the 10:00am service during school term time. There are three groups catering for ages 2-13. They do fun activities together before rejoining church for communion.

Music Minsistry

The choir and music group are led by Sally Hume. Practice is at 7.00pm on Thursdays.

St Mary's Fellowship

St Mary's Fellowship meets on the first Monday of the month at 7.30pm to hear a speaker, or go on an occasional outing. All are welcome.

Pre-school Music

'Musicial Munchkins' operates on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 10.00am. Music and movement is followed by morning tea.

'Play on purpose,' Thursdays 1-3.00pm, run in conjunction with Dunedin City Baptist Church.

Indoor Bowls

During winter indoor bowls is played in the crypt on Thursdays at 7.30pm. Everybody is welcome, including those who have never played indoor bowls before.

Alpha

An opportunity to explore the meaning of life and the Christian faith in a relaxed setting over ten thought-provoking weekly sessions and a day or weekend away.
